Standard 8A: Adheres to board policies, district procedures, and contractual obligations.
Title: Basketball Book Cheat Sheet
Reflection: One of our contractual obligations at Clarke High School is to assist with at least two activities or sporting events per school year. To do this, I learned how to keep the game book for girls and boys basketball and have done so at many Clarke basketball games. Doing so has allowed me to deepen my relationships with students by participating in their after school activities.
Standard 8B: Demonstrates professional and ethical conduct as defined by state law and district policy.
Title: New Course Plan
Reflection: This artifact is the proposal I wrote for the consideration of the school board in order to get the course sequence in the art dept. changed. I felt that the courses offered were outdated and did not meet the needs of students. Rather than just complaining, I created a solution and outlined it in a professional manner to the board and created a win-win for everyone.

Standard 8C: Contributes to efforts to achieve district and building goals.
Title: Clarke MS Leader in Me Page
Reflection: Since I have been at Clarke, the Middle School has been in the process of implementing the Leader in Me program. I have attended many trainings over the last two years, and have made an effort to use the terminology in my classroom. The MS has done a great job changing the culture of the school to incorporate the Leader in Me. Next year I am hoping to start Junior Art Honor Society to provide more leadership roles for students, and join the Lighthouse Committee.
Standard 8D: Demonstrates an understanding of and respect for all learners and staff.
Title: HS Staff List
Reflection: One of the best pieces of advice I got from my student teaching supervisor at UNI was to make friends with your secretaries and custodians in your building because they are the ones that really make things happen in the building and will go to bat for you when needed if you have treated them with respect and valued their role in the building. Whenever we have treats in advisory, I try to leave one out for our night custodian. I also try to greet them and converse with them like any other staff member, rather than acting like they are below me. This has gotten me their support so many times because they are always willing to help me out, and I know who to ask for by name!
Standard 8E: Collaborates with students, families, colleagues, and communities to enhance student learning.
Title: PLC Collaboration Log
Reflection: Last year, I was placed with the other Fine Arts teachers in the building for PLC. We talked about incorporating writing and literacy and monitored our student's scores for English and reading on their MAP tests and Iowa Assessments. We also discussed strategies for students to work with peers to give each other feedback and assess their own learning.
